Charlie Haden

The incomparable jazz musician Charlie Haden died last week.

With numerous impeccable YouTube clips available, my first choice is a performance by the wonderful Liberation Music Orchestra playing Sandino from a TV show called Night Music, mostly for the music, partly the presenter’s hair style.

And because I still crave one of those Steinberger headless guitars.

Douglas Adams Towel Day

“In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.”

“There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even
more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened.”

“It is a well-known fact that those people who must want to rule people are, ipso facto, those least suited to do it… anyone who is capable of getting themselves made President should on no account be allowed to do the job.”

“We don’t have to save the world. The world is big enough to look after itself. What we have to be concerned about is whether or not the world we live in will be capable of sustaining us in it.”
