Exploring the world of cybernetics, Twitter and the origins of the notion of the ecosystem.

Adam Curtis’ new three hour (3x60mins) documentary series is to be called ‘All Watched Over by Machines of Loving Grace‘, according to a small piece in the print edition of the Radio Times a couple of weeks ago. It might have said a little more, but unfortunately I forget to put it aside before it reached the recycle bin. The title was also confirmed by a tweet from Charlie Brooker which read simply…

1) It is called ‘All Watched Over By Machines of Loving Grace’.
2) Twitter shows up in it.
3) It’ll be on the TV quite soon.

Broadcast magazine adds…

All Watched Over by Machines of Loving Grace (3 x 60?) Bafta-winning film-maker Adam Curtis’s new documentary series in which he explores the world of cybernetics, Twitter and the origins of the notion of the ecosystem.

The title is believed to be inspired by a Richard Brautigan poem of the same name from a collection of thirty two poems published in 1967.

Speculative ideas about Curtis’ forthcoming work can be viewed at Words Dept.

In the meantime, Brooker linked up “3 short films Adam Curtis made for Screen / Newswipe”.

Politicians used to have the confidence to tell us stories that made sense of the chaos of world events. But now there are no big stories and politicians react randomly to every new crisis – leaving us bewildered and disorientated.
